On Paper…

On Paper…

On paper I look like a hot mess. Nothing really makes sense, a bit all over the place really. Things don’t ‘flow’ or connect in the traditional way, sometimes I don’t even understand how it all happened. Culinary arts, the food industry, entrepreneur, zookeeper, housecleaner, and corrections officer. When explained, it all makes perfect sense, yet no sense at all. It is not a traditional ‘career path’ just a path that led from one place to the next. It was…

Single Life…

Single Life…

If you have chosen the single life by design or default, be excited about your quest. Be thrilled you single folks, you can do whatever you want ALL THE TIME!  Yes, it all falls in your lap; laundry, chores, errands, bills, taking out the trash, cooking, cleaning, it is all up to you. If you don’t do it, it doesn’t get done. It can all be overwhelming on your own but in reality do many married people share those tasks?…

Exercise…

Exercise…

I used to enjoy working out, exercising, sweating my butt off… whatever term you would like to use for it. In my younger days, I spent 2 plus hours in the gym daily when I thought I wanted to be a ‘body builder,’ like Rachel Mclish.   I ate cans of tuna and mounds of broccoli and when nobody was looking, cake tops slathered with buttercream but still couldn’t shed my body fat, go figure. I trained and trained but…

Going Back to School…

Going Back to School…

Going back to school was not something I looked forward to, who did? Homework, studying, pop quizzes, test, mid terms, book reports, math homework…oh those damn word problems.  Who really cares what time the train arrives at the station on the second track, minus two left turns, with 27 passengers and 52 pounds of luggage.   The teachers your siblings had and living up to the expectations. “Yes, I am her sister but I would advise you not to expect…

Looking Up…

Looking Up…

My dear, sweet friend gave me this advice: “Quando cammini non tenere gli occhi bassi, ma guardati in torno perchè la vita, per una bella persona come te, ha tante cose ancora, da offrire.” G.M. “ When you walk, don’t keep your eyes down, but look around because life, for a beautiful person like you, has so many things to offer.” G.M. I never really payed attention to where my eyes were when I was walking. If I think about…

Summer of Self-Consciousness…

Summer of Self-Consciousness…

Fall is my favourite season. Not because of the fall colors, the food or all things pumpkin spice, for me, it is about wearing more clothes. Not like I need in the winter when I become a mini Michelin woman but enough to camouflage my roll-y bits. Yes, even at this age of not giving a shit, I still have roll-y bits I am self conscious of. I would rather have them disappear under a cute red and black flannel…

Dreams…

Dreams…

It is said, if you die in your dreams, you die in real life. I don’t know if that is true, I have never died in my dreams and because I am still here I can only assume I never have. I am fascinated with dreams and what they may allude to. I have a dream interpretation book, I google anything and everything. What am I trying to tell myself? What am I going through or working through or dealing…

Tuscany 2.0…

Tuscany 2.0…

“The Universe will reward you for taking risks on its behalf.” Shakti Gawain There is taking risks and there is moving so far out of your comfort zone you get sick to your stomach, unable to make a decision and riddled by fear. Fear of failing, fear of making the wrong decision and every other fear that you did not even know you had, like fear of not packing enough underwear or too much underwear. Can you really pack too…

Train Fiasco Part 2…

Train Fiasco Part 2…

Trapped on the train to nowhere, well actually going somewhere, I just had no idea where that was because I was supposed to be off the train by now, my cousin Judit calmed me down to a few steps below full on panic. She told me I was going to have to get off at the next stop, turn around and come back to the stop I could not get off at. At least now I knew if nobody was…
